Be Prepared, Apply Promptly

Be fair, contact your solicitor and explain what you do not think the costs are reasonable.  Most solicitor although not overly worried about the results of The Consumer Complaints Service, they would prefer not to be complained about.

It may be possible to resolve the issue there and then, after all that is what solicitors are supposed to exist for; to resolve disputes.

However as many are actually doing it for the money, you may find that complaining is your only option.

Next Consider if the service your solicitor provided was contentious or non-contentious. Remuneration certificates are only given when the bill is non-contentious. This is services where the work has not concerned the court.

If the service your solicitor provided did involve the court, the bill should be assessed by the court itself.
