However billing remains one of the biggest issues people have with their solicitors
This is hardly surprising as you can be billed anything up to £60 an hour for someone not yet qualified as a solicitor. The Consumer Complaints Service can check whether the bill is fair. These complaints are called ‘Applications for Remuneration Certificates’’.
If The Consumer Complaints Service can not deal with your complaint they can give advice on where to turn to. The Consumer Complaints Service has a time limit in which they will consider complaints, so be quick and address the problem as soon as practical. The Law Society had a reputation for a bias towards solicitors, a situation not uncommon if an organisation is allowed to regulate them selves.
Remember though it does not take a genius to become qualified as a solicitor and many are woefully inadequate. In some cases you will find some are dishonest.
So do not be intimidated by the process. If the Law Society can not or will not help you, try calling you Local Trading Standards, the Inland Revenue or even the Police. All can be found at Yell.com
